Who DOESN'T Need Your X?

I know you want to reach more folks. But the reality is, there ARE people who don't need or want what you are selling. You can save time, energy, AND MONEY by figuring out who those people are and just ... not marketing to them at all, so you can focus on reaching YOUR people.

About the event

I spend a lot of time walking clients through "Who's your ideal audience?" exercises (for most organizations, there's going to be more than one ideal audience). One of the basic ones starts with making a list of people who might need the product or service in question. But I like to follow that up by asking, "Who DOESN'T need your X?" ... and that's where people start to look confused.

See, the thing is, as long as you are operating under the implicit assumption that all traffic is good traffic and you want to reach EVERYBODY IN THE WHOLE WORLD as a potential customer, you'll never really be able to tighten up your messaging to reach the people who really will appreciate what you are bringing to the table. In marketing, just as in essay writing, developing a clear understanding of your audience helps you to determine the things you WON'T say, the evidence you DON'T need to provide, the counterarguments you don't have to address because these people won't believe them anyway. In order to truly understand who your audience is, you have to understand who your audience isn't –– and that's where a lot of us come up short.

So, July 14th, come work it out with me!

RSVP here, and watch for an email with the video conference link (I use Google Meet) the day before the event.

(I'll also send you a reminder, just in case.)

I'll see you there!
